Our Philosophy

Built From the Field Up.

We Get Involved Early

Most law firms wait for a problem to show up. We do not. We get involved as early as possible, sometimes years before a client signs their first professional contract: financial education, entity structuring, and career planning at the outset.

We Build Teams, Not Dependencies

An athlete does not need a lawyer who tries to be everything. They need a lawyer who builds the right team: agent, CPA, financial advisor, business manager. We are the legal quarterback, coordinating the moving parts and reviewing every advisor’s work.

Not a 9-to-5 Practice

Deals close on weekends. Crises happen at midnight. A client who just got traded needs an LLC formed in a new state within 48 hours. We are built for this: responsive, fast, and available.

Litigation Is a Last Resort

We are litigators. We will fight when we need to fight, and we are good at it. But we prefer to structure things correctly from the beginning so litigation never becomes necessary. Prevention is cheaper, faster, and less disruptive than a courtroom.

Flat Fees. No Surprises.

You know the cost before the work begins. Most matters are quoted as a flat fee with a firm turnaround, and where a matter cannot be flat-rated — like litigation — we scope the budget with you upfront. Hourly is the rare exception, never the default. No surprise invoices, so you can plan your business the way you plan your season.

Sports Law. Nothing Else.

This is not a general practice with a sports page on its website. Sports and entertainment is the entire firm. We know the leagues, the rules, the calendars, and the people, because we have worked inside them.

Results That Travel Well.

Athletes · The Athlete LLC
Situation

A veteran player was traded midseason. His endorsement income, appearance deals, and a rental property were all tied to his personal name in a state he no longer played in.

What We Did

Formed a new-state LLC, coordinated EIN and banking, and worked with his CPA and financial advisor to route every non-salary income stream through the entity.

Outcome

LLC formed and accounts retitled in 3 days, before his first practice with the new club.

M.B. · NFL Veteran, Super Bowl Champion
Entertainers · Deal Review
Situation

A veteran producer was handed a development deal that locked up his catalog and his next three projects on terms buried in the definitions section.

What We Did

Reviewed the agreement, flagged the catalog grab, and told him plainly: this is a bad deal and we will not let you make it. Then we negotiated the terms that mattered.

Outcome

Catalog retained. The deal closed on corrected terms with his rights intact.

D.E. · 30-Year Film & TV Producer, Director
Teams & Leagues · Interim GC
Situation

An MLS club lost its general counsel with contracts in flight: player agreements, sponsorships, and venue matters with no one to review them.

What We Did

Stepped in as interim counsel. Cleared the review queue, kept player and commercial deals moving, and maintained league compliance through the transition.

Outcome

Zero missed deadlines. A clean handoff binder delivered to the club’s incoming general counsel.

Interim General Counsel · MLS Club
Youth Sports · CIF Eligibility
Situation

A national-team volleyball recruit transferred schools to escape a toxic program. CIF flagged a brief prior coaching contact and ruled her ineligible for a full year, mid-recruitment.

What We Did

Built a citation-rich appeal brief, organized documentation from both schools, coordinated witnesses, and argued the case before the CIF appeal panel.

Outcome

Full eligibility granted. She led her new school to a CIF Section Championship that same season.

High School Volleyball · USA National Team
Youth Sports Clubs · Entity & Risk
Situation

A growing club was running every coach on a handshake. No coach agreements, outdated waivers, and an entity structure that put the founders’ homes at risk.

What We Did

Restructured the entity, put every coach on a compliant written agreement, and rebuilt the waiver stack to hold up under California law.

Outcome

Personal exposure closed. The club passed its next insurance audit without a single exception.

Competitive Youth Club · Southern California
For Advisors · Referred Matter
Situation

A financial advisor discovered his client’s endorsement income was flowing into a personal account with no entity behind it. He needed a lawyer who would fix it without competing for the relationship.

What We Did

Joined a three-way call within 24 hours, corrected the structure, and coordinated with the advisor and CPA at every step. The advisor stayed the client’s first call.

Outcome

Entity formed, income rerouted, and a referral relationship that has since sent four more clients.

Our Clients Speak Volumes

There is nobody I trust more than Brandon with my on and off-field needs for me and my family. I talk with him every week and during the season he talks with my financial advisor and business manager to stay on top of things while I focus on my game.
